Behind the scenes with PaulaAmy DiTullio @ 2019-04-24 14:24:33 -0400
As this season is coming to an end we have taken a look at some of our favorite coats here at Apparis, and one of our favorite styles for us is the Paula puffer. While our collection is almost entirely comprised of faux fur we decided to experiment with creating a puffer coat for our spring collection. The Paula with its leopard print, light weight feel, and sporty design has been a huge success for us, and an indicator of what Apparis might create in the future. We sat down with our creative director to get a behind the scenes look into her thought process and why the Paula coat has been a unique style this season.
What made you decide to create a coat that is not faux fur?
We didn’t want to limit ourselves to just faux furs. As a vegan company we wanted to create an alternative to the typical down coat that we see on the market today.
Being a vegan company what do you use for the filling of the Paula?
We use our own blend of synthetic fibers which help the coat retain heat while still keeping it light weight and easy to wear.
At Apparis we like to think of leopard as our new black. We’re all about bold prints, and this one can easily be paired with everything. So, making the Paula in leopard was a no brainer and it gives that je ne sais quoi that we bring to each design.
What did you consider when creating the shape of the Paula?
Since the Paula was coming out for our spring collection I wanted to make sure that it would easily transition from winter to spring. The length, situated right at the hip, feels sporty and the volume gives a fresh silhouette.
How would you style this coat?
The Paula is my favorite coat to throw on before my morning work outs and to wear on the weekends. You’ll see me wearing it with a graphic tee, my favorite pair of denim, and my Nikes.
Who was the Paula named after?
My friend Paula from Boston, we went to college together. She’s bold, carefree, and always brings the party to every situation, just like our puffer coat.
I love your jackets, fur and puffer!!! I have not been able to get one yet as they sell out pretty fast. I will keep trying💖
I purchased two of your fur coats this last winter and love love love them. When will you be showing your new coats and colors for fall and winter 2019. I can’t wait to see what’s on the runway. Your loyal fan, Cindy Montgomery
