Black: sleek, classic, edgy…. The list can go on about the power of “the little black dress”, the all black city staple, the go-to for elegant movie stars. But the one thing that doesn’t come to mind is plain or simple when talking about Paris’ Palais Galliera’s current exhibition showcasing Cristobal Balenciaga’s collection of black looks. You will find a range of pieces from crepe-like cake dresses to long ball-gowns that look covered in glowing stars to sleek cocktail dresses that could take you anywhere and casual day-outfits that might make others question if all you really did was go grocery shopping.
